Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11:30 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Durham is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Durham follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Our friends brought us to Wheat 麥茶 for a wonderful get-together, and we had such a great experience! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was comfortable, and it was a perfect place to enjoy a big meal with good friends. We ordered a table full of dishes to share. The Hainanese Chicken was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Salt & Pepper Pork Ribs were crispy on the outside and tender inside. The Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Mustard Greens (梅干扣肉) was especially delicious—the pork was incredibly tender and rich, while the preserved mustard greens added wonderful savory flavor. Definitely a dish that makes you want another bowl of rice! We also enjoyed the stir-fried fish fillets, which were fresh and delicate, and the spicy chicken was flavorful and addictive. The Crab Roe Tofu was another favorite—silky tofu with a rich, savory sauce that paired perfectly with rice. And then came the perfect ending: freshly baked egg tarts! Crispy, flaky pastry with a warm, creamy custard center. They were absolutely delicious straight from the oven. Great food makes a meal memorable, but sharing it with wonderful friends makes it truly special. ❤️ Excellent food, great company, and a ve

Lots of great options here, will have to stop by again. I forgot to take a picture of my favorite item, the House Lo Mein, which had thick bitey noodles. The shrimp dumplings were surprisingly good, the marinated cucumbers were a nice addition to the other items, the poached chicken app was different. The egg tarts were okay and they have some good tea/drink options too!

Stopped by Wheat today with a friend and had a really nice lunch. We ordered the crab paste rice and the pork belly noodles, and both were delicious. The pork belly was super tender and flavorful, and the crab roe rice was rich and really satisfying. It was raining outside today, so having a warm bowl of noodles and rice felt especially comforting. The restaurant is very clean and has a relaxed, cozy atmosphere, which made the whole meal even better. The staff were also very friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Overall a great spot for good food and good service. Definitely coming back next time!!!!🥰

The food was excellent! Especially the “crispy” mala fish. It’s not fried to be crispy, but it just has a very nice crunch from how it’s cooked so fresh

We had the chicken with mushrooms and rice and also minced beef noodles and both dishes were amazing. There is a lot if flavor and portions are very balanced. Great atmosphere inside and lots of desserts to choose from.
